Since the official launch of Facebook's Project Libra earlier in the year, the social media's step into the cryptocurrency industry has made it to the headlines almost daily. Whilst not always for the right reasons, the project has gained substantial public interest and is now almost as popular as the leading cryptocurrency, Bitcoin. This is according to a survey recently carried out by eToro, which found that respondents are more familiar with Project Libra than they are with Ethereum, Litecoin or XRP. Although the project has been receiving a lot of flack from regulators and administrators across the globe, its latest surge in popularity seems to be from the most unlikely of sources, the President of the United States. Just last week, Donald Trump tweeted his distaste for cryptocurrencies, which lead his over 62 million followers to learn about Project Libra. According to the brokerage platform, 16% of respondents were already familiar with Project Libra. In comparison, only 12% knew about Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency.
