North Korea Calls Accusations Of Crypto Thefts As “Slanderous Rumors”

The isolated nation of North Korea has categorically denied accusations that it has stolen around $2 billion worth of cryptocurrencies by hacking into exchanges and banks. This declaration follows a UN Security Council statement which included the accusation that the “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea cyber actors were raising money for its WMD (weapons of mass destruction) programs, with total proceeds to date estimated at up to two billion US dollars.”

Furthermore, the regime state accused the United States of “fabricating lies” with the ultimate goal of damaging the country’s reputation and add further sanctions to an already beleaguered nation. In a statement issued by the Korea Central News Agency, the country’s leader accused the United Nations of “re-enacting the same old trick as the Hitler fascist propagandists used to cling to.”

It appears that South Korea has been hit hardest by the suspected North Korean cyber attacks. The country has been a victim of an estimated 10 successful attacks. It appears that India’s financial industry suffered three successful attacks. In all, the UN is investigating 35 separate cyber attacks.
