What else? Canadian crypto exchange QuadrigaCX has gone into maintenance this week with no warning to its customers. It is another chapter of its polemic history. "Our site is down for maintenance. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause. We appreciate your patience, and will keep you updated as we know more. Thank you," the QuadrigaCX website says. No further explanation. Previously, QuadrigaCX got itself in a legal fight against the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce for a 28 million Canadian Dollars following the CIBC freezing of multiple accounts of QuadrigCX. The bank claimed it was unable to determine who was the owner of the funds, the exchange or individual traders. Later in December, QuadrigaCX announced its founder Gerald Cotten died more than a month earlier, on December 9. Now, customers remain in the dark as they are not able to withdraw their money from the Canadian exchange, even worse now, they do not have any website to visit.
