Later this week, BitMex are due to reduce the Base Maintenance Margin on XBT and ETH. The decision has been stated as part of their on-going efforts to “fine-tune” their platform. The changes will be implemented as a trial period and then will be reconsidered based on users’ feedback on them. The changes will be as follows: Contract*Current Base Maintenance MarginBase Maintenance Margin from 17 AprilCurrent Base Initial MarginBase Initial Margin from 17 AprilXBTUSD0.50%0.45%1.00%1.00%XBTM200.50%0.45%1.00%1.00%XBTU200.50%0.45%1.00%1.00%ETHUSD1.00%0.90%2.00%2.00%ETHM201.00%0.90%2.00%2.00% The changes that will take place on Friday 17th April at 01:00 will have a different impact based on whether traders are above or below the Base Risk Limit on notional or other contracts. These impacts are important to understand and have been outlined in detail in the blog post found on the BitMex website. These should give you an overview of how the change will affect the contracts you have with either XTB or ETH but traders have been told they can contact the customer support team for further details about these.
